ASD Testing
Aspirating smoke detection (ASD) systems are designed for use in active fire protection systems, typically consisting of a central detection unit which functions by drawing air through its integrated network of pipes, continually testing for the presence of smoke. These systems can be isolated to a particular space or encompass the entirety of a building.
Increased use of aspirating smoke detection systems means there is now greater demand for solutions to test these systems. We offer two methods of testing, one utilises adaptors fitted to test heads and the other is a permanent solution fitted to the ASD system pipe run.
As with all fire and smoke detection systems, ASD systems must be regularly tested to ensure that they are in full working order and will protect against the danger of fire.
The specialist adaptors for ASD system testing are available for the Solo 365 and Testifire XTR2 test tools, sold as an accessory to the tester they fit easily to the top of the tester and using a delayed start mode, direct smoke into the pipe run enabling a functional tester of the system.
For ASD systems beyond the reach of access poles, our Scorpion product is the perfect solution. The Scorpion is fitted at the end of the pipe run and adjacent to a sampling hole and then wired back to a wall mounted access point from which a functional test can be initiated.

The Solo 372 adaptor replaces the standard test cup on Solo 365 to enable functional testing of aspirating smoke detection systems. The adaptor can also be used to test detectors such as the Soteria Dimension.
